Welcome

With its old sun darkened granaries smothered in Geraniums, the legendry cow fighting the dramatic Moiry dam and glacier will call you back time after time.

From mid June to September the cable cars of Grimentz and the Val-d'annivier will transport you to the panoramic landscape of Switzerland's Imperial Crown of its most famous peaks above 4000 mtrs.

The sunny Valais and Grimentz with its high altitude walking and hiking trails are suitable for all levels from gentle day walks to serious high mountain treks where you can relax overnight in some of the most stunning remote refuge huts.

As part of the famous Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt the whole area is criss-crossed by notable well marked paths. The tourist office is stocked with a good selection of itinerary maps.
Contact pascale@swiss-hiking.com for more information.

Walk, take the car or even the post bus right to the top of the spectacular Moiry Dam and Glacier at 2250mtrs, rarely can you get this high by vehicle. The restaurant here beckons for lunch with the usual hospitality you have come to expect from Switzerland.  In the Moiry restaurant enjoy the splendid far reaching views of the Val d'annivier and beyond. You can also marvel at the Via Ferrata an almost sheer climbing experience, which surprisingly can be undertaken without normal climbing experience when accompanied with equipment and the expertise of a local guide www.viaferrata.org. Once at the top of the Via Ferrata you can choose to experience an 80 mtr zip slide - prepare to be amazed, you can of course take a gentle walk down to the restaurant.

Grimentz boasts over 100km of marked mountain biking trails and every August hosts the finish of The Grand Raid - this famous race starts in Verbier and crosses the valleys and the peaks of the Valais. Mountain bikes and helmets can be rented in the village.
Visit www.do-sports.ch for further details.
